Water Magic

Tied to the deep ocean, water magic springs forth most amongst those who are born on the shores of the great seas, and seems to hold a particular affinity for those born upon the island of Bohortha Eilan, a thin backbone of rock holding up a murky, wet, damp land that is always suffused with moisture. Whatever their origin, watermages feel drawn to the ocean, and most often gather jobs that put them aboard ships for weeks upon end, far more at home amongst the roaring storms and rolling tides than they ever will be with their fellow man. Despite that, they are still highly capable when dealing with their fellows, for the moisture of each man's body gleams forth to any mage using their talents, and they can often diagnose and purify illnesses, especially those that reside within the blood. Often more focused on guiding and shaping than brute force power, woe to those who take the steady nature of the watermage for ill, for a hidden storm may be brewing under that surface.

Like all types of magic, there are several schools of training, each designed to instil a certain mindset within the learner, and most mages find themselves drawn to one or another of these. The guild within Tregonethra teaches Aig Heigiau, the study of the ocean and the sea, perhaps the oldest of all the magical traditions that exists within The Four Part Land, as it can trace its lineage back to the very first founders of Tregonethra, that first generation of fishermen, pirates, and traders who moved from the mainland to the shelter of the large island. A smaller component within the guild's teachings is Bwrw Eira Hiâ, the study of snow and ice, two lesser components of the watermage's arsenal. Some mages show an affinity to this tradition and teaching over that of the more common Aig Heigiau, although they tend to come from amongst the few watermages born on the mainland, and not from the warm-water folks upon Bohortha Eilan.
